It's never too early to teach children the value of good character. Therefore, Responsible Social Values Program (RSVP) was created to reach students in the impressionable grade and middle school years. Responsible Social Values Program is an interactive teaching approach to help students make and keep abstinent decisions regarding premarital sex, drugs and alcohol. This character-based, abstinence-centered program seeks to teach children values by providing accurate information, fostering self-respect and encouraging communication between parents and children.

A teacher commented, "She taught the idea that anyone can decide to be abstinent even after making a poor decision about having sex."

Highly successful nationally, Responsible Social Values Program has a history of equipping qualified people with exciting Training Seminars, practical curriculum and vibrant materials. The Responsible Social Values Program is designed to work from 6th to 8th graders. Complete with thorough curriculum guides, dynamic visual posters and handouts, the A Case for Abbey Stinence video production and an easy-to-manage carrying kit, Responsible Social Values Program is one of the most comprehensive abstinence education curriculum programs available today.

RSVParent Education

One of the most important elements of Responsible Social Values Program is connecting parents/guardians to their children's understanding of character values and abstinence until marriage. While our program takes place in the classroom, the difference is made at home. Children look to their parents for guidance when it comes to the sometimes difficult topics covered during RSVP, and parents often look to us for some of those answers.

Parent meetings are offered in communities where schools have shown an interest in offering a better understanding of what will be covered in the classroom. These meetings are held approximately a week before the program is scheduled at the school. Parents are:

>>>Given a condensed description of the program and opportunity to participate in a teaching demonstration

>>>Given an opportunity to view curriculum and teaching resources are both displayed for parents to view

>>>Informed about "homework" that will be assigned to them at each grade level of RSVP and what our goals are in having them work with their children on these activities

>>>Given time to voice questions or concerns about what their children will be learning

>>>Invited to sit in on a class to observe the actual lesson

Some comments by parents who have attended Parent Meetings:

This meeting, "helps me to explain it a little better, calmer, in teenage terms." I feel the most helpful information to me was to "help me be more informed of today's teens as to 10-15 years ago. I really enjoyed our class. I've never been to one of these before. I think it's great."

"All the information in the meeting was very helpful to help me steer my daughter in the right direction."

It is our goal to meet the needs of students in the community with honest and direct information that encourages positive character choices in their lives.

Some comments from some of our RSVP students when asked how their opinions have changed after participating in RSVP:

A 6th grader replied, "Sex is not gross and relationships can form quickly or slowly." A 7th grader responded, "They are basically the same, but I think it helps knowing I wasn't the only one not sure."

Other comments from some of our RSVP students when asked what they liked most about RSVP:

A 7th grade student commented, "I feel more confident about things I wasn't sure about before." An eighth grade student answered, "we got to discuss how we felt about it."
